THE Department of Youth Development and Sports says it is disappointed that the Saint Lucia National Anthem was not played last Friday evening at the official ceremony for the winners of the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Games in Toronto.
Saint Lucia’s Levern Spencer again won, successfully defending her title against two US athletes, who placed second and third.
Contacted for a comment on the official position, Director of Sports Patrick Mathurin told The VOICE: The Ministry is disappointed that the national anthem was not played.”
Saint Lucians have also been registering their disappointment on social media and in calls to radio and TV Talk Shows.
However, Mr Mathurin offered no other comment and did not indicate whether an official complaint or protest was lodged. (See Editorial)
