Inter Commercial Futsal Semifinalists Decided

THE battle line has been drawn and the four semifinalists for the 2018 Chamber of Commerce Inter Commercial Futsal tournament have been selected.

This coming Friday, WASCO will take on Bel Jou and Scotia Bank takes on PCD.

To date, 204 goals have been scored in 36 breathtaking matches.

In quarterfinal matches played on Friday 4th May 2018, WASCO defeated Arktel 1888 Go Answer 3-1.

For WASCO the goal scorers were Valdez Maximin in the 8th and 41st minute and Richard Annius in the 45th; while Romario Lewis the lone goal scorer for Arktel 1888 Go Answer in the 32nd minute.

In Game No.2, Scotia Bank defeated one of the tournament favourites, Saint Lucia Teachers Union, 5-4 in a tense battle on centre court.

For Scotia Bank the goal-scorers were Delon Charles in the 4th and 47th minutes, Niale Alexander in the 8th, Jeff Jeffrey in the 11th and Meltus Desir in the 26th.

Nigel Francis opened the scoring for Teachers Union in the 18th minute of play, MwugabeProspere doubled the score line in the 20th, Lynch Isidore in the 37th and Nehemiah Wilfred in the 40th minute but that was not enough to see them through.

On Saturday evening, before an appreciative crowd, PCD defeated a strong LUCELEC team 3 – 0, the goal scorers were SelenceBarthelmy in the 10th minute, Wilson Charlemagne in the 19th minute and Nye Henry in the 34th minute.

LUCELEC will have themselves to blame for not scoring the many chances offered to them, while PCD must be thankful to goalkeeper Andre Marquis for coming up with a few big saves between the uprights.

In the final encounter on the evening, a hard-fought one between Bel Jou and Ferrands, Bel Jou triumphed, winning 5-4.

For Bel Jou, the goal-scorers were Trevone St.Prix in the 10th and 12th, Glen Auguste in the 18th minute, and two double strikes from the boots of Romel Felix in the 35th and 47th minutes.

For Ferrands, the tournament’s leading-goal scorer, Lincoln Philip, with 14 goals to his name, scored a hat -trick on the night which was not enough to see his team through.

Philip scored in the 30th, 31st and 40th minutes, despite throwing two penalties, one which he kicked directly to the Bel Jou goalkeeper and the other hitting the uprights. Vernel Joseph was the other goal-scorer, a goal scored in the 18th minute.

In the Veterans League, played on Friday evening, BTC All Stars defeated Compre FC 3-2 with goals from Junior Samuels in the 2nd and 21st minutes and Marcus Toussaint in the 34th For Compre FC, Rafferty Noelien scored in the 30th and Nico Geroddie in the 40th minutes.

On Saturday evening, Compre FC defeated Toughest FC 5-4. For Compre FC the goal-scorers were Nico Geroddie in the 5th, Rafferty Noelien 14th, Neil Joseph 22nd and Sherman Sylvester in the 29th and 30th .

For Toughest FC, in the 2nd minute, Roger Leon 4th, Wayne Rameau 8th and Greg Valcin in the 20th minute.

Meanwhile, before the semifinal showdown, the organizers have included a ladies match-up scheduled for 6:30p.m., while action in the Veterans League will see Lazy Lagoon up against BTC All Stars at 7.30p.m.
