PM expresses condolences to Spartan and the Southern Community

PRESS RELEASE – PRIME Minister Allen Chastanet has expressed condolences to students and faculty of Spartan Health Sciences University following the tragic drowning incident on the weekend in which two students lost their lives and a lecturer has been reported missing.

The incident, which occurred off Cannelles Beach on Saturday, March 31, 2018, “has left the people of Saint Lucia, and especially the south, with heavy hearts,” said Prime Minister Chastanet, who is also the parliamentary representative for the Micoud South constituency.

He said, “On behalf of the Government of Saint Lucia, I extend our condolences to the faculty and students at the university.

“This has to be a very difficult time for them all.

“We also feel for the entire southern community because we know that the students at the medical universities are very much part of the communities in which they study.”

“Our hearts go out to the grieving families of those involved in this tragic incident and to those who are still awaiting word on Dr. Boopathi Subramaniam, a senior lecturer of institution,” said Prime Minister Chastanet.

The Prime Minister called on all Saint Lucians to keep them all in our prayers as they go through this difficult time.
