PRESS RELEASE – THE Soufriere Foundation is persistently working on transforming the town of Soufriere. Consequently, phase one of the Hummingbird Beach Project recommenced yesterday.
Senior Project Officer, Malcolm Mathurin, stated: “The project seeks to enhance the tourism product in Soufriere and to create economic activities for the area.”
The project is comprises of a beach bar, storage buildings, shops, washrooms, concession booth and rent-a-shacks.
The Hummingbird beach project will be completed within three months at an estimated a cost of EC$1.5 million.
“During this time, the beach will be accessible to pedestrians. However, it will be necessary to restrict vehicular access onto the beach,” he said.
The public is urged to take precaution when traversing the area.
