PRESS RELEASE – THE Saint Lucia National Trust (SLNT) will stage its 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, Saturday, November 11. Members and non-members are invited to the meeting which will commence at 1:00 p.m. at the Finance Administrative Centre Conference Room, Pointe Seraphine, Castries.

According to SLNT Director, Bishnu Tulsie, “We will provide an update on the numerous conservation projects and programmes and our plans for the next financial year. The AGM provides an opportunity for financial members to elect the next Council that will guide the work of the Trust in these turbulent times.”

He added: “Furthermore, persons whose memberships have lapsed are reminded that there are no back charges or penalties to be paid to renew their membership. So this is the perfect opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to safeguard Saint Lucia’s heritage.”

Apart from the election of the new Council, other agenda items include the Chairperson’s report, Chapter’s report and the Auditor’s report. There will also be an exhibition of a collection of photos from the heirs of Eldon Cyrille Theodore depicting life in Vieux Fort in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and a display on the Trust’s efforts in restoring the mangroves in the south of the island.

The Trust’s patron, Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, will be on hand to officially declare the AGM open. As such, we encourage attendees to be on time to ensure a prompt start. Transportation will be provided for persons residing in Soufriere, Vieux Fort and environs.

Please contact the Trust’s offices at 452-5005 or 454-5014 to confirm your attendance and to ascertain more information about our Annual General Meeting.
