Taiwan Scholarship Awardees Arrive In Taipei

LAST Wednesday, nine Taiwan Scholarship Recipients arrived in Taiwan from St. Lucia to embark on their new journey. His Excellency, Mr. Hubert Emmanuel, Ambassador of St. Lucia to R.O.C.-Taiwan, Secretary Amy Chen, along with President of the Association of St. Lucian Students in Taiwan, Keril Victor and other members of the student board welcomed the eager students on arrival.

On Thursday, the students attended a welcome dinner hosted by the Embassy of St. Lucia R.O.C-Taiwan where they had the pleasure to feast on Taiwanese cuisine.

The awardees are Brittany James, Kwame Chaz Kahlyle Joseph, Jhazmin Valencia Zarria Francis, Lydia Cindy Sammy, Allan Tyler Simon, Centaine Shanaii Joseph, Nadege Jn. Baptiste, Marvyn Jerome Ernest and Sekyeda Jodi Louis.

They will commence classes on September 5. Prior to this, members of the association will provide support to the newcomers in preparation for the academic year ahead.

Under the MOFA Scholarship, students are expected to first study one year of Mandarin at the Fu-Jen Catholic University Language Centre, after which they will transition into their individual academic programmes.

The second group of students under the ICDF Scholarship and I-Shou University School of Medicine for International Students Scholarship are scheduled to arrive on September 4th. Their respective programmes will be conducted in English, with one semester of Basic Mandarin. They, together with MOFA Scholarship Awardees, will make up a total of 15 students to have received scholarships this year.
