7 Games, 1 Champion In Blackheart One-Day Tourney

THE Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort is the venue for today’s staging of the Blackheart Champion of Champions winner-take-all $5000 prize.

The official draw for the one-day showpiece was held on Wednesday evening at the Saint Lucia Football Association’s headquarters.

The competition will feature seven former champions along with the 2017 Qualifiers champion Babonneau. Babonneau will take on three-time champions Mabouya Valley from 2:00 p.m.

At 3:20 p.m., defending Blackheart champions Vieux Fort South take on Micoud; VFS defeated Micoud to win the Blackheart championship for the first time last year.

In other match-ups, Gros Islet will face Anse la Raye at 4:40 p.m. while three-time champions Dennery play Canaries at 6:10 p.m.

The winner of Babonneau/Mabouya Valley will thereafter play the winner of Gros Islet/Anse la Raye while the winner of the VFS/Micoud match will play the winner of Dennery/Canaries match. The two winners coming out of the semifinal round will play in the grand finale.

The event will be held on a knockout basis with 60-minute duration. If there is a deadlock at the end of regulation time, teams will go into penalty shootout to determine the winner going into the next round.
