A male suspect in the murder investigation of 31 year old Sophia Edward has turned himself in to police.
An Officer attached to the Press Relations Department of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force has confirmed to The VOICE that the person of interest was arrested after voluntarily appearing at the Central Police Station on Tuesday evening.
The suspect is believed to be an individual with whom the victim shared a relationship.
The Ciceron incident took place at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, the victim’s birthday, and according to eyewitnesses’ accounts, the violent outburst was sparked after Edward received a birthday greeting via text message.
The mother of two was stabbed on the right side of her upper chest, as well as both cheeks. The injury inflicted to her cheeks is believed to be an entry exit wound inflicted from a single thrust.
A post mortem was conducted on the body to determine the exact cause of death.
Edward’s death has been listed as the island’s 17th homicide for the year so far.
