Local football is getting more support from Flow as the company continues to deliver on its promise to pump more resources into the development of sports in St. Lucia.
Flow is sponsoring the 2016 Veterans Football Tournament which is scheduled for kickoff on the weekend of November 5-6 at the La Ressource Playing Field, Dennery. The tournament is being organized by Veterans in Sports Inc. in collaboration with the St. Lucia Football Association.
Flow is providing financial and telecommunications support to the tournament.
At the official press launch on Wednesday, October 26, Marketing & Communications Executive at Flow St. Lucia, Shermalyn Sidonie-John, praised Veterans in Sports Inc. and the St. Lucia Football Association for ‘putting great football on show’ and for bringing the veteran footballers together so they can continue to enjoy the sport.
“It has certainly shown that football is for all and there are always avenues for getting back into the game, even for those who had previously ‘retired’ from the sport,” she said.
Sidonie-John said Flow remains firmly committed to doing all it can to create opportunities for more St. Lucians to participate in sports and develop active and healthy lifestyles.
“It is also why we have taken sports broadcasting in the Caribbean to a whole new level with our Flow Sports Premier Pack and our coverage of Premier League Football, including channels like Manu TV and Chelsea TV. Our affiliation with the Veterans Football Tournament is a longstanding one of which we are very proud and we are very pleased to be supporting our veteran football heroes once again,” said Sidonie-John.
Sixteen teams will be competing in the tournament and the winners of the matches will qualify for the semi-finals of the Plate Championship to be held on January 29.
The winner of the Plate championship will receive the FLOW Plate and cash.
