COCONUT Bay Beach Resort & Spa has announced its inaugural Education Incentive Award for school students in the south (Dennery to Choiseul) of Saint Lucia who participated in the recent Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) examinations.
The award will consist of a day pass for two to the student or students from the south ranking highest among the top five grades nationally. In addition to the main component of a day pass the student(s) recognized will be offered an opportunity to undertake an internship stint at the resort for an agreed period.
This incentive is consistent with the hotel’s sponsorship policy which focusses priority on the youth and elderly and the education and health sectors.
This new initiative adds to already significant contributions to education through the annual Cocoland Cares programme which provides learning materials to every pre school on the island.
In addition Coconut Bay accommodates and entertains contingents of pre schoolers on property each year in commemoration of Universal Children’s Day. Staff members are also beneficiaries of an annual Common Entrance Scholarship, which awards bursaries of EC$1500.00 each to the children with the two highest grades as well as to a needy case.
Said a statement from the resort: “Coconut Bay through the addition of this Education Incentive Award is seeking to not only motivate our future leaders to strive for excellence but also to recognize them for their hard work and high standards. These area values are synonymous with the Coconut Bay brand. The Coconut Bay Education Incentive Award in being undertaken in collaboration with and through the support of the Ministry of Education”
