St. Lucians On Windwards Cricket Team

THE Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control (WICBC) has released the final 14 players to participate in the WICB Women’s Super 50 and T/20 Regional Tournaments which will be played from July 3 – 25 in Guyana.

St. Lucia who won all their games convincingly in the recently played series of matches against Dominica gained five selectees on the team. They include young Qiana Joseph who is currently at the WICB Emerging Players Camp (HPC in Barbados) and Yasmine St. Ange who is back at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus in Barbados and will be training with former West Indies player and coach of the UWI Blackbirds Women’s Cricket Team Pedro Collins. The other players selected from St.Lucia are – Roylin Cooper, Nerissa Crafton and Swayline Williams.

The full squad reads – Afy Fletcher from Grenada (Captain), Juliana Nero – St. Vincent and the Grenadines (Vice Captain), Glendeen Turtin – SVG, (Wicketkeeper) Stacy- Ann Adams -SVG , Akira Peters – Grenada, Holly Charles – Grenada, Rackel Candis – Grenada , Rosilia Registe –Dominica, Krishani Irish – Dominica, Qiana Joseph, Yasmine St.Ange, Swayline Williams, Nerissa Crafton and Roylin Cooper St.Lucia.

The team will be coached by Cleton Burnette of St. Vincent and the Grenadines who was coach of the Southern Windward Island team last year and Eugenia Gregg – of St. Lucia (former West Indies all -rounder and 3rd Vice President of the St. Lucia National Cricket Association ). Training will be ongoing locally with Coach John Eugene at the Mindoo Phillip Park.

Meanwhile, the St.Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports has congratulated the management and Team and wish them success in the upcoming WICB regional tournament in Guyana.
