THE Saint Lucia Cadet Corps, last Friday, received a cheque of $11,720 proceeds from a fund raising cocktail held at Government House on July 5..

Governor General of Saint Lucia Dame Pearlette Louisy, presented the cheque. She said: “We decided not simply to go on a fundraising drive, or a fund-raising initiative, but to make it an enjoyable social event. And by all accounts, the cocktail was very successful.”

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors who assisted the Office of the Governor General in making the initiative possible and making it the success that it was.”

Lt. Col. Nathan Hyacinth said the feedback from the public was overwhelming.

“This was an opportunity where the officers could mingle with persons who are looking to see how they can support the organization,” he said. “I would like to urge all persons to continue to support the Saint Lucia Cadet Corps where we are able to develop young people and make them productive citizens of Saint Lucia.”

The Saint Lucia Cadet Corps was established in 1929.

The cheque presentation ceremony was one in a series of activities that marked the Corps’ 86th anniversary.
