LEADER of the Opposition and Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North, Dr. Gale Rigobert has initiated a management committee to oversee the relief efforts for victims of the June 1, fire in her constituency. Several residents were left homeless as a result of the fire.
A major fundraising activity on June 5, in the constituency spearheaded by Dr.Rigobert was supported by the entire community and persons from around the island. This venture raised thousands of dollars for the fire victims. This was followed by a fund raising dance on Friday June 12th which proved a success.
The Micoud North MP says now that these initial activities are over, and efforts are continuing to raise the necessary finance, building materials, school supplies and household items, she has initiated the establishment of a committee to manage all relief efforts.
An account has been established at the Mon Repos Eastern Co-operative Credit Union where contributions can be made. The Account name is “Micoud North Relief Committee” and the account number in 28986.
Dr.Rigobert has implored the public to give generously so the victims could begin to recover from this traumatic experience and rebuild their lives.
