New Rules for Visiting Patients at Millennium Heights Medical Complex

THE management of Millennium Heights Medical Complex (MHMC) continues to put the safety of its staff and patients at the forefront.

As the covid-19 situation continues to develop, the public is hereby notified that the rules for visiting patients at the facility can change at any time, depending on what is happening with the pandemic, and government issued guidelines.

Effective Thursday September 2nd, 2021 all visitors must wear masks covering their nose and mouth, and under their chin at all times when indoors. Masks are also required outside in a small zone around the Complex’s doorways. Visitors who don’t comply with these rules will be asked to leave the premises.

Visiting Times for the Owen King EU Hospital (OKEUH): Ward – AGW 1-3 & ICU one visitor per patient. From Monday to Friday, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m., a maximum of 15 minutes per visit. On Saturday, the visiting hour will be from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. with a maximum of 15 minutes per visit. There will be a 24-hour curfew on Sunday meaning no visits will be entertained that day.

Concerning the Pediatrics ward there will be one visitor per patient. The visiting time Monday to Friday will be from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. One parent will be allowed to stay with the patient, name should be registered with nurses. Saturday the visiting hour will be from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. with one visitor being permitted.

If the other parent is just visiting and not relieving the parent who is already on the unit, that visiting parent will need to come to the unit at the visiting hours allocated by the hospital, thus reducing traffic on the ward. There will be no visitation on Sunday.

Anyone coming to drop items for family members on the unit are not permitted to come to the unit to drop off. The parent or guardian will go to the front door of the unit to collect items.

With regards to the Obstetrics Ward there will be one visitor per patient. Monday to Saturday visiting times will be from 6 a.m. – 7 a.m., with 15 minutes maximum per visit. No visiting on Sunday given the 24-hour curfew.

No visiting Hours given 24-hour curfew for the National Mental Wellness Centre (NMWC), meaning all wards visitation halted. In other words visiting of patients has been suspended for the next 7 days.

“MHMC recognizes that persons may wish to drop items for family members outside of visiting hours. Please note these items can be dropped off at the security station, properly marked with the patient’s name and ward,” noted a release from the Complex.
