SLNCA T10 Blast Continues Today at the DSCG

ANOTHER double header in the second edition of the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) T10 Blast starts today at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG), Beausejour, Gros Islet.

Mabouya Valley Constrictors will play their first match in the tournament against Daren Sammy lead Micoud Eagles team at 12:30 p.m., while at 2.30 p.m. last year’s losing finalist Mon Repos Stars will come up against Gros Islet Cannon Blasters in Match No. 12.

Tomorrow (Thursday 6th) from 12.30 p.m. , it will be Choiseul Clay Pots versus Babonneau Leatherbacks and at 2.30 p.m. Match No.14, Mabouya Valley Constrictors takes on Vieux Fort North Raiders.

On Monday, last year’s semi-finalist Gros Islet Cannon Blasters (GICB) defeated Choiseul Clay Pots by 5 wickets on the Duckworth Lewis System (DLS) due to a rain interruption. At the time GICB was 35 for 4 from 3 overs. The revise target for GICB was 43 from 3 overs.

Scores: Choiseul 116 for 2, Vince Smith 37, Junior Henry 29, Jason Simon 18 and Audy Alexander 17. Bowling for Gros Islet, Dornan Edward 1 for 11.

Gros Islet Cannon Blasters in reply, 78 for 5, Larry Edward 22, Kimani Melius 18 and Lee Solomon 11 and Dornan Edward 8 not out respectively. Bowling for Choiseul, Clem St.Rose 2 for 18, Alvinaus Simon 2 for 26, and Bronte Bess 1 for 6.

Defending champions South Castries Lions (SCL) started their title defense on a losing note on Monday when they were defeated by a surging Micoud Eagles team by 6 wickets. Scores in the encounter, SCL 68 for 6; in reply, Micoud Eagles 69 for 4 in 8.1 overs.

Meanwhile on Sunday Micoud Eagles won their third consecutive match to reach the playoff when they defeated Vieux Fort South Sunrisers (VFSS) by 8 wickets after VFSS won the toss and elected to bat first.

Scores: VFSS 64 for the loss of 2 wickets. Jermaine Harding 33, Jervin Isidore 23 not out. Bowing for Micoud, Daren Sammy Jr, 1 for 7.

In reply, Micoud race to their target reaching 68 for 2 in 5.1 overs with Mervin Wells scoring the first half century of the tournament to date, he made 55 not out laced with 7 fours and 3 sixes from 22 deliveries. Bowling for VFSS, Delan Martial 1 for 17, Jermaine Harding 1 for 26.

Soufriere Sulphur City Stars handed Laborie their second defeat in the Progression Round, defeating them by 9 wickets after Laborie won the toss and elected to bat.

Scores: Laborie 66 for 9, at one stage they were 24 for 1 in 3.2 following the wicket of opening batsman Quincy St. Rose run out for 7; Shervin George 19 and Denlee Anthony 17, the main contributors with the bat. Bowling for Soufriere, ShanniMesmain 2 for 14, KervellProspere 2 for 19, Wayne Prospere 1 for 4 and Bradley Tisson 1 for 6.

Soufriere in reply 67 for 1 in 4 overs, Julian Sylvester 34, KeitherProspere 13 and Ashley Hippolyte 5 not out respectively. Bowling for Laborie, Sanjay Pamphile 1 for 27.

On Saturday, 1st May, Match No. 3, Micoud Eagles notched up their second win of the tournament defeating Soufriere Sulphur City Stars (SSCS) by 9 wickets after winning the toss and deciding to field.

Scores: SSCS 88 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 10 overs; in reply Micoud Eagles reach their target for the loss of Shervin Charles bowled by Xytus Emmanuel for 16 with the score on 45 after 3.3 over; Mervin Wells 31 and Garvin Serieux Jr 19 not out respectively, extras 22. Bowling for Soufriere Xytus Emmanuel 1 for 14.

Laborie won over Vieux Fort South Sunrisers by 49 runs, the first team to past 100 runs after VFSS won toss and decided to field.

Scores: Laborie 108 for the loss of 6 wickets. Require 109 for victory, VFSS made heavy weather of their chase reaching 59 for 4 in their allotted 10 overs.

On Friday, 30th April, in the very first match of the tournament, Soufriere Sulphur City Stars, which endured a tough time last year after failing to register a single win, started their campaign with a win this time around when they defeated Vieux Fort South Sunrisers (VFSS) by 7 wickets.

Sores: VFSS 62 for 6 in their allotted 10 overs; Soufriere in reply 66 for 3 in 6.1 overs. In match No. 2, Micoud Eagles, captain by Daren Sammy was victorious defeating the Laborie Bay Royals comfortably by 24 runs.

Scores: Micoud 82 for 5. Chasing 83 for victory Laborie was restricted to 59 for 4 in their allotted 10 overs.
