THE participants in the 2015 Secondary Schools Francophonie Spelling Bee have all come in for high praise from LIME following the successful conclusion of this year’s competition.

LIME was a sponsor of the event hosted by the Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Education in observance of International Francophonie Day. LIME is a regular sponsor of the competition, which is held annually.

Darla Willie won the contest for Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (Beanefield) after fending off a stiff challenge from Abigail Francis of Vieux Fort Secondary School (La Resource) in the finals, last Friday at the National Cultural Centre.

The two contenders stood toe to toe with contestants from other schools and slogged it out to make it through to the grand finale. Coming in at third place, was NykishaMonrose of Corinth Secondary School.

For their gallant performance LIME rewarded the first and third place winners with a Lenovo laptop plus one year’s free mobile credit and an Alcatel tablet respectively. Both devices offer a rich suite of features that are easily optimized on LIME’s robust networks.

LIME’s said its sponsorship of this year’s Francophonie Spelling Bee was a further demonstration of the company’s commitment to strengthening its support for education and youth development in St. Lucia.

So far this year, LIME has provided well over $60,000 in financial and logistical support to school sports and other educational activities.

“It’s always exciting to be a part of the Francophonie Spelling Bee and we’re very proud to have been a sponsor,” said LIME Marketing & Communications Executive, Sharlene Jn. Baptiste. “We wish to commend the organizers for an excellent job in hosting the event and congratulate the participants for their excellent performance.”

  1. Now this is the type of model ‘Stellar Aspiration” that use to be -of the Sons and Daughters of Fair Helen.
There are ways to replicate this type of benevolence to involve the hardworking folks in the diaspora.
Their efforts can focus -collectively- on their former schools, towns or even needier schools.
The mechanism to acknowledge and even reward individual benefactors and to authenticate transparency -is just outside the box.
Lime and other commercial orgs cant do all that is needed=alone.
CONGRATS to the participants-all are winners.
