Dr. Roger Nesbeth Appointed Director of Human Resources at The UWI Global Campus

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Global Campus is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Roger Nesbeth as Director of Human Resources, effective August 1, 2026.

With over 43 years of experience in education and management, including 32 years in higher education and human resource management, Dr. Nesbeth brings a wealth of knowledge to this leadership role.

Since joining The UWI Global Campus in 2017, he has served as Acting Director of Human Resources multiple times, most recently from January to February 2025 and from May 2025 to July 2026. Dr. Nesbeth has held various positions within The UWI, including roles in the Human Resource Management Division, the Registry at The UWI Mona Campus, and the Regional Coordinating Office for the Institute for Gender and Development Studies at The UWI Regional Headquarters.

Additionally, he has been a Research Supervisor in the Doctor of Education (EdD) program at The UWI Global Campus, presenting seminars and speaking at conferences on local, regional, and international platforms.

Dr. Nesbeth’s academic credentials include a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Higher Education Management and Organizational Change from the University of Sheffield, a Master of Arts in Heritage Studies from The UWI, a Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Jamaican Institute of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in History with Social Science from The UWI. He is also an honors graduate in Teaching from Mico University College, Jamaica.

His research interests include Human Resource Management in Higher Education, Organizational Change, and management practices within the sector.

Moreover, Dr. Nesbeth has a keen interest in local, regional, and global affairs. In his new role, Dr. Nesbeth will lead the Campus’s human resource management function and support the development of organizational capacity in alignment with The UWI’s strategic objectives.

Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal Dr. Francis O. Severin welcomed Dr. Nesbeth’s appointment, stating, “Dr. Nesbeth has provided genuine and authentic support, not only in the human resource sphere but also for the success of the Campus and the University overall. His solid, well-researched advice is respected and valued, and I am confident he will continue to serve us outstandingly.”
