PRESS RELEASE – THE International Dance and Drama Institute of St. Lucia (formerly known as the St. Lucia School of Ballet & Modern Dance) recognises and honours the achievements of students who had, for the academic year September 2017 to July 2018, dedicated themselves to the discipline and study of the international dance syllabi of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD UK) in Classical Ballet and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing ( ISTD UK) in Modern Theatre Dance.
The students achieved a 100% pass in both genres, gaining Distinctions and Merits from the primary level up to advanced 2 Professional -Dance company standard.
Examiners flew in from Canada and the UK on April 16th and May 31st 2018 and examined at the Cultural Development Foundation, the Authorised examination Centre for both international examining boards.
Students trained in Vieuxfort were also amongst the successes.
St. Lucia School of Ballet and Modern Dance is the oldest and most reputable dance school in Saint Lucia and within the 9 member states constituting of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States.
The school is fast approaching the 40th year of operation in St.Lucia in 2019.
Mrs. Theresa Lowrie-Collymore continues to direct and expand the dance school to the districts of Reunion and Mongouge, Choiseul. the goal being to bring dance education to all communities in Saint Lucia; meanwhile still offering classes at Cultural Development Foundation ,Balata, Rodney Bay and Vieuxfort.
The Institute will be hosting their Christmas Concert at the end of November entitled “the Greatest story ever told.”
Students passed and current ,local artists and the St.Lucia School of Music will be participating in the production. (SLSBMD)
