FIVE Excellers team members of the Entrepot Secondary School accompanied by Junior Achievement (JA) Teacher Advisor Ms. Jancel Mater, left St Lucia on July 5th for Mexico to participate in the Junior Achievement Global Youth Forum (JA GYF). The St Lucian team joined approximately 500 participants representing 43 different countries at the Hotel Hacienda Cocoyoc, Morelos, Mexico for one week of world-class keynote speakers, alumni panels, entrepreneurship workshops, business competitions, recreational activities, team-building activities and more.
The inaugural JA GYF organized by the Junior Achievement Worldwide in collaboration with JA Mexico marks the beginning of an 18 month long JA Centennial celebration which will not only inspire participants but also empower and prepare them for their future careers and endeavors. Additional activities and training for teachers, chaperones, JA staff, board members and other non-student attendees will keep all participants engaged.
The Entrepot Secondary school emerged winners of the 2nd Annual JA -Scotia Bank Innovation Camp Challenge with their Bank Your Selfie promotion and received an all expense paid trip to the GYF. The Excellers toured Scotia Bank Mexico and met with senior management executives and showcased St Lucia’s culture and history through song, dance, wearing the national wear and proudly displaying the St Lucian flag whenever and wherever the opportunity presented itself.
The forum will conclude with a gala dinner and Talent Show competition on Thursday July 12th 2018.
