THE island was abuzz with JounenKwéyòl activities yesterday as schools, business-places, vendors and others adorned in the creole colours set the pace for what is to take place tomorrow in four communities across the country.

The city centre — Constitution Park, in particular — was filled with JounenKwéyòl accoutrement displayed in booths alongside the park. There was also a stage for live performances.
All across the city were creole artifacts and food on sale, especially in the Castries Market.
Tomorrow, JounenKwéyòl activities will be held in Marigot, Vieux fort, Babonneau and Mabouya Valley. The flagship activity of Creole Heritage Month (October), the event is usually used by Saint Lucians to express their national pride and love for their heritage.
Today, however, is being observed as International Creole Day.
