TWENTY-five-year-old Reynolds Alfred of Carellie, Castries, was formally charged yesterday for the offence of robbery.
The charges stems from an incident that occurred last Sunday around 1:00 a.m. when a male individual, believed to be Alfred, entered a shop at Cacao, Babonneau, armed with a firearm, making off with a sum of money.
People in the area provided assistance and subdued the suspect, who sustained injuries in the process. He was conveyed to the Victoria Hospital, by police personnel, where he received medical treatment.
On Thursday, a team of law enforcement officials proceeded to a location at Hill 20, Babonneau. During that time, they gave chase to two males, who were not apprehended. In the process, a submachine gun was recovered, believed to be the weapon used during the abovementioned robbery. No one has been arrested in connection to that operation. However, police are actively pursuing leads in the matter.
Alfred appeared before the First District Court in Castries for a bail hearing and was remanded in custody until Thursday, May 11, 2017.
