THE International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced the inclusion of Karate in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The Karate-Do Federation of St. Lucia has welcomed the news from the IOC and says it is pleased that the sport of karate is being included at this world-class level.
President of the Karate-Do Federation of St. Lucia, Oliver Lawrence remarked: “This is a great opportunity for our Federation. We must approach this opportunity with commitment and tremendous focus on our strategic objectives, if we are to participate in the 2020 Games.”
The announcement was anticipated by the national body since the acceptance of the sport as an Olympic sport in 2014, in accordance with the IOC’s strategic roadmap.
