ECCO Holds Rights Session Thursday

DETERMINED to foster further growth in the Caribbean music industry through informative and educational forums for music professionals, the Association of Caribbean Copyright Societies (ACCS) in association with the Eastern Caribbean Collective Organization for Music Rights (ECCO) will host a Related Rights Symposium on Thursday at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort in St Lucia.

Related Rights refer to the rights to publicly perform or broadcast a sound recording and are typically owned by the recording artist/performer and the master recording owners, (usually record label or the executive producer).

This symposium comes at an ideal time, as ECCO has been approached by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) to administer related rights on their behalf in the Eastern Caribbean. This will mean that ECCO will now be able to administer related rights royalties on behalf of performers and owners of sound recordings in addition to performance rights royalties which are currently being administered on behalf of songwriters and music publishers.

Recording artists, record labels, and executive producers of sound recordings are therefore urged by ECCO to take advantage of this opportunity by registering to participate in this free symposium. Space is limited. Interested persons can collect registration forms from the ECCO office in Sans Souci in Castries. Forms can also be downloaded via http://bit.ly/2bpeb0u. Completed forms should be sent to [email protected] or delivered to the ECCO Office no later than Monday.
