“THE Vagina Monologues”, written by Eve Ensler and directed by Hayden Forde hits the local stage next weekend.
The presentation is made up of a varying number of monologues read by a varying number of women. Each of the monologues deals with an aspect of the female experience touching on various matters for example sex, love, menstruation and rape. Some of these experiences have had “funny moments”. The recurring theme throughout the piece is the vagina as a tool of female empowerment and the ultimate embodiment of individuality.
This emanated from a workshop into a play and has been re-enacted in several countries and very year a new monologue is added to highlight a current issue affecting women around the world.
