SLCFA to launch scscaonline.com on September 8

The Sun and Silk Communications Agency (SASCA) will officially launch its website sascaonline.com on September 8, 2026.

This has been announced by the website’s Editor, veteran Saint Lucian and Caribbean journalist, Earl Bousquet.

SASCA is a registered company in Saint Lucia, initiated in October 2025 as the website of the 23-year-old Saint Lucia-China Friendship Association (SLCFA).

Over the past ten months, sascaonline.com has developed a satisfactory record of local, regional and international online following.

Publishing in 10 (ten) languages with content aimed to attract traditional and non-traditional online followers by reflecting the news, features and items across international boundaries and borders, the website has achieved milestone growth and global reach.

The platform has experienced remarkable momentum, recording 15,000 views and 7,700 visitors year-to-date, as of 2026.

Over its brief lifespan, sascaonline.com reached a total of 18,200 views from 9,300 visitors, establishing a presence in 137 countries.

All-time local viewership (to date) is at 6,734.

According to Bousquet: “SASCA and sascaonline.com will give added emphasis to highlighting fellow China Friendship Associations in Latin America and the Caribbean, while positively highlighting the role of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) as a favoured international partner of the majority of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) nations.”

He continued: “With nine of CARICOM’s 14 nations having chosen Beijing as their bilateral partner, all have experienced positive experiences that helped Caribbean development in many respects.”

The sascaonline.com Editor said the website is associated with members of the Latin American and Caribbean Federation of China Friendship Associations (FALCARPC), with membership in eight CARICOM nations: Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Surinam and Trinidad & Tobago.

Similar associations also exist in dozens of Latin American nations and are all connected to the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).

SASCA has developed professional relationships with various top PRC media houses and their Caribbean and Latin American regional correspondents, including the China Global Television Network (CGTN), Xinhua and China Daily.

The SLCFA also has arrangements with China-based media training entities, including the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA) and China International Press Communications Centre (CIPCC) and is invited to select nominees to participate in international training workshops for young journalists from the Global South.

Indeed, sascaonline.com emerged from a recent CIPC training event involving the Caribbean — a four-month course in 2024 attended by its Webmaster, Casey ‘Omar’ Jerson.

The official launch will be through a hybrid public event at the Finance Administrative Centre in Castries, Saint Lucia’s capital, on September 8, 2026 observed as International Journalists Day (IJD).

The launch will be hosted by the SLCFA and will include feature messages from other FALCARPC members and related entities in the Caribbean, Latin America, China and beyond.

According to Bousquet, “We look forward to next month’s launch, which will start the next logical phase in the continuing expansion and development of sascaonline.com.”
