Bank of Saint Lucia has announced the completion of the final phase of the Paediatrics Ward Rehabilitation Project at the Millennium Heights Medical Centre, culminating in the unveiling of a vibrant, rousing mural that stretches along the entirety of the ward’s walls.

This milestone marks the successful conclusion of an initiative undertaken through a Memorandum of Understanding between Bank of Saint Lucia and the Millennium Heights Medical Centre. Through this partnership, BOSL funded the rehabilitation of the Paediatrics Ward as part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility programme, bolstering Saint Lucia’s healthcare infrastructure and improving patient experience. While the project delivered several significant infrastructural and functional upgrades, including child centric floor and ceiling tiles, an educational playroom, an enhanced reception area, mold remediation, air conditioning and the provision of medical equipment, the heart of the transformation lies in the ward’s newly completed mural.

Created by talented young Saint Lucian artist Arthur Williams and his team, the artwork was carefully curated to reflect the world of the children who pass through the ward. Bright colours, playful illustrations and imaginative designs bring the space to life, creating an environment that is both comforting and engaging for the young patients and their loved ones. The mural also captures scenes inspired by everyday happenings within the ward and includes artistic representations of some of the dedicated healthcare professionals whose care and compassion support the children during their recovery. Perhaps most meaningful was the invitation to staff and patients to leave their own marks within the artwork. Their personal contributions have cemented the mural as a collective expression of the many lives touched by the Paediatrics Ward, creating a lasting symbol of community and resilience.

“This project demonstrates that healing extends beyond medical treatment,” said Genevieve Downes, Senior Manager – Marketing and Corporate Communications. “A welcoming environment can have a profound impact on a child’s wellbeing. Bank of Saint Lucia is honoured to have contributed to creating a space that inspires comfort, joy and optimism. The mural is testament of what can be achieved when creativity and collaboration come together.” Bank of Saint Lucia extends sincere appreciation to the Millennium Heights Medical Centre, Mr. Arthur Williams, the healthcare professionals, patients, families and all stakeholders who contributed to bringing this vision to life.
