CEO Hassan Euristee: Taking the SPL T20 Tournament Further Ahead

As the highly anticipated SPL T20 series kicks off, CEO Hassan Euristee expressed his excitement about the league’s evolution into a significant event across the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), showcasing eight of Saint Lucia’s top competitive teams.

Euristee has high hopes for the upcoming season, declaring, “The production this year is going to be like no other,” highlighting his enthusiasm for the tournament’s growth and professionalism.

In a recent conversation with Voice Sports, Euristee reflected on the advancements in this sixth edition of the SPL T20. He mentioned that each team is now permitted to include two overseas players in their rosters, which he believes will enhance the competition.

He noted the crucial support from the government and the promotion of the SPL T20 league within the region, stating, “We have moved from a semi-professional status into a more professional mode, with substantial investments, especially in player salaries.”

Despite some top-ranked players, such as Akeem Auguste and Noel Leo, missing this season, Euristee emphasized that this signifies “the country is doing a great job” in developing the sport. He expressed hope that all top players will participate in future tournaments to elevate the event even further.

At the opening ceremony on Friday, Rohan Lubon, a representative from the Ministry of Sports, echoed Euristee’s sentiment, anticipating another thrilling cricket season.

“There’s a lot at stake – the rivalries, bragging rights, and the honor of being crowned SPL T20 champions,” he remarked.

Lubon added, “I’ve been informed that this year, the competition will reach new heights. Several formidable cricketers from the region are joining us, which will enhance the matches and meet spectator expectations.”

He emphasized the SPL’s vital role in providing a platform for players to showcase their talent, refine their skills, and inspire the next generation of cricketers.

He believes it strengthens community spirit, promotes discipline and teamwork, and contributes to overall sports advancement through its professional orientation.

In concluding remarks, Lubon reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in sports development, striving to build a stronger and more dynamic sporting sector.
