The SLFA Inc. has two national teams in training at its Technical Centre in Grande Riviere Dennery, ensuring they are fully prepared for the upcoming regional competitions.
Under-17 Women’s CONCACAF Qualifiers
The Under-17 Women’s team is actively training for the CONCACAF Women Under-17 Qualifiers, set to take place in Curacao from January 26 to February 2.
Saint Lucia will dominate Group C, facing strong teams including Antigua & Barbuda, Cayman Islands, Guatemala, and Haiti. The campaign kicks off on January 27 against Haiti at 7:00 pm, followed by matches on January 29 against Guatemala, January 31 against Antigua & Barbuda, and concluding with a game against the Cayman Islands on February 2.
Leading the Under-17 Women’s team is Coach Minerva Charles, who is confident in her squad’s preparation. The 20 locally-based players have undergone rigorous training sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and as of January 10, all have successfully completed their medical evaluations.
Coach Charles believes the team will deliver an impressive performance.
Men’s Under-20 CONCACAF Qualifiers
Meanwhile, the Men’s Under-20 team is gearing up for the CONCACAF Qualifiers in Costa Rica from February 23 to March 3. Saint Lucia is poised to excel in Group C against Antigua & Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, and the Dominican Republic.
The match schedule is as follows:
– February 23 vs. Antigua & Barbuda
– February 27 vs. Dominica
– March 1 vs. Dominican Republic
– March 3 vs. British Virgin Islands
A dedicated squad of 25 Under-20 players is in training, directed by Head Coach Miran Louis.
The team trains on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays- with an additional double session, and on Sundays, ensuring they are in peak condition to compete and succeed.
