As Venezuela faces unprecedented challenges, it stands firm, drawing support from passionate activists, governments, and organizations committed to peace and sovereignty.
In a powerful display of solidarity, the Movement of Solidarity of Saint Lucia with Venezuela convened an urgent gathering on Tuesday at Bideau Park, a location of historical significance flanked by the House of Parliament and the Old Government Printery.
With the statues of revolutionary icons Simon Bolivar and Jean Baptiste Bideau looming as enduring symbols of liberation, the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Saint Lucia united with advocates to boldly denounce the aggressive military actions of the USA against the Venezuelan government and its democratically elected leader, President Nicolas Maduro.
Ambassador Leiff Escalona eloquently stated, “This gathering is not just an event; it is a call to action—a vital platform for reflection and collective expression. Here, we can assertively and peacefully show our solidarity with the Venezuelan people and reaffirm our commitment to peace, the rule of international law, and the defense of the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.”

The urgency of the occasion was palpable, providing an essential opportunity for impassioned discussions on the crises that have deeply unsettled the region, all provoked by the baseless military aggression from the United States.
Activists and representatives of local interest groups passionately amplified their voices, demanding not only support for Venezuela but also the immediate release of President Maduro and family from U.S. custody.
This rally at Bideau Park was a direct response to escalating tensions and turmoil facing Venezuela. Following recent acts of military aggression, including U.S. airstrikes and President Maduro’s abduction, the gathering illuminated the growing local and international outcry against these actions.
Saint Lucia’s resolute political alignment with Venezuela stands firm, serving as an example of regional solidarity in the face of instability. The ongoing demonstrations in Caracas and the rising international concern highlight the significant geopolitical impact of these developments.

The Trump administration’s 2025–2026 operations aim to achieve the triple goals of crippling Maduro, disrupting drug trade routes, and seizing control of Venezuela’s vast oil reserves. Trump’s own statements reveal oil as a primary motive behind actions taken against Venezuela.
Since 2017, U.S. sanctions have sought to isolate Venezuela economically, with severe restrictions on access to financial markets and the blocking of Venezuelan debt purchases. The repercussions have been catastrophic, with the nation’s economy worsening due to an oil oversupply and a staggering decline in production, resulting in a staggering 24.3% drop in real GDP from 2014 to 2016, coupled with an inflation rate soaring to 800%.
Ambassador Escalona addressed the media, asserting that the USA is disseminating propaganda rooted in ulterior motives. Rather than positioning themselves as saviors of the Venezuelan people, their agenda is one of manipulation and aggression, violating international laws in their mission.
“They wanted to create an illusion of progress for Venezuela, but the truth is, the people are on the streets supporting President Maduro and demanding his release,” she asserted.
The Venezuelan people remain undeterred, buoyed by global support that grows daily. “We undergo constant activities,” Escalona emphasized. “Marches and protests erupt in various cities and especially in front of U.S. embassies worldwide.”
The ambassador reinforced the global movement advocating for President Maduro, insisting on the defense of international law and the return of their legitimate leader.
“What transpired in Venezuela was an egregious attack, resulting in tragic loss of life and significant damage to civilian infrastructure. Yet, this narrative is ignored while they frame their actions as a legitimate operation,” she stated.
Escalona concluded with fervor: “The people of Venezuela remain resilient—they are determined to continue this battle against imperialism and U.S. interventionism.”
In this urgent moment, the region must stand united with Venezuela against aggression, ensuring that sovereignty, self-determination, and peace prevail. Join the call for justice, support the rights of the Venezuelan people, and advocate for a future where peace reigns in the Caribbean.
