Vulnerable families and individuals from the communities of Choiseul, Laborie, and Vieux Fort experienced joy and cheer this past festive season, as the Ministry of Equity, Labour, Gender, Elderly Affairs, Social Justice, and Consumer Welfare proudly recognized the Christmas Hamper Initiative, now in its third consecutive year.

This initiative has become a vital source of hope, dignity, and practical support for the most vulnerable and underprivileged families during the holiday season. It makes a significant difference in their lives.

The Ministry acknowledges the invaluable support from main sponsors Lincoln and Fenella St. Luce. Their generosity and unwavering commitment drive the initiative’s success.

The ministry  also extends  gratitude to local partners Neil Printing, L&M Scrap Metal, and Young Faith Production for their meaningful contributions and steadfast support to the community.

In collaboration with the Vieux Fort Welfare Unit under the Ministry of Equity, the hampers were strategically distributed to families in greatest need, ensuring effective assistance reaches those who require it most. The initiative originated from the outreach of the St. Luce family to Welfare Officer Michelle Edwide Duplessis and the Vieux Fort welfare team, showcasing a dedicated commitment to compassion, dignity, and community upliftment.

This partnership exemplifies how collaboration between private citizens, local businesses, and public institutions can create meaningful and lasting impact. The Ministry of Equity commends all partners involved for their ongoing service and generosity.

Initiatives like the Christmas Hamper Initiative are crucial, aligning perfectly with the ministry’s  mission to promote social protection, equity, and empowerment—especially during a season that calls for unity, care, and goodwill.
