If you listen to the Flanbo’s one would think that the party has never been in office. They need to realize that we have all the receipts. The Allen Chastanet led administration showed disdain for the people of Saint Lucia. From the elimination of subsidies on basic goods, to the defunding of the Distress Support Fund and the stoppage of the Laptop Programme, the Flanbo’s focused on dismantling the social safety net. At the same time the FFF like Theo Ah Khing, Lockerbie and Ernst and Young received all the goodies. What we witnessed was a massive transfer of wealth from the people of Saint Lucia to the FFF.
Allan Chastanet showed time and time again that he did not care about the people of Saint Lucia. This lack of concern and care was on full display during the Covid Crisis. Despite borrowing hundreds of millions of dollars for the purpose of providing income support to St. Lucians, Chastanet neglected the people and chose to divert money to the FFF by way of direct awards and other schemes.
Fast forward to the general elections of 2021 and the SLP’S landslide victory. The party campaigned on the promise of putting people first. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Phillip J Pierre, the party has certainly lived up to the motto of putting people first. Policies such as the payment of four CXC subjects for students, the introduction of a Minimum Wage, the increase in pensions for pensioners, free prenatal care, free healthcare for octogenarians, the removal of VAT on many items and the rationalization of Crown Lands are just a few examples which shows the differences between the SLP and the UWP.
The UWP has opposed every single policy which the SLP administration has implemented. Budget after budget has been dismissed as election budgets. The UWP has left no doubt that if they are ever returned to office they will eliminate all of the programs that have been implemented by the Phillip J Pierre Administration. People of Saint Lucia we need to ask ourselves are we willing to return to the days of the marginalization of our people and the enrichment of the FFF or are we willing to continue with the march to progress under the superb leadership o of Prime Minister Phillip J Pierre.
The stakes are too high.
We have too much to lose.
We must re-elect the SLP.
