Jaycees Are Back | Group of Young People Reigniting the Organisation’s Flame

A dedicated group of young people is actively reigniting the flames of the Jaycees organization, which was once renowned for its extensive social community outreach. 

Reports confirm that the Jaycees group is making a vigorous comeback after 37 years out of operation. Recently, a renewal event took place to hold the second induction ceremony for new members.

On January 25th, JCI Saint Lucia proudly hosted its second batch of members, marking the inaugural induction ceremony of 2025, with many more planned.

The event was charged with excitement and inspiration as four new members joined the organization: Brodi Louis, Hannah Samuels, Kerbiline Alcee, and Juriana Jn. Baptiste. Each person brought unique passion and energy, ready to contribute to the mission of JCI Saint Lucia.

Highlights of the ceremony included an uplifting performance by JCI Secretary General (SG) Shan Lucien, which energized the crowd and set a vibrant tone for the day. A standout moment was a powerful presentation from Leycia Samuels, President of JCI West Indies, who delivered an empowering speech emphasizing the importance of unity, vision, and growth within the organization.

Guest speaker Kendall Elva delivered a compelling message on the significance of effective leadership, urging attendees to take ownership of their roles as catalysts for positive change. He highlighted the critical need for youth development to shape resilient, innovative leaders and communities focused on long-term progress.

The event celebrated personal growth and collective strength, reaffirming JCI Saint Lucia’s commitment to empowering young leaders.

“With an exciting year ahead, we are poised for many more inductions and opportunities to create lasting impacts in our communities. Today marks the beginning of a promising journey for all new members and the organization as a whole,” stated a JCI Saint Lucia Instagram post.

JCI Chairman Saint Lucia, Syim K Phillip, recognised the support that enabled the group to reignite and urged inductees to share their ideas and network with the membership. He is respected among his peers for his passion for youth empowerment and community development, propelling the organization to new heights this year.

“It requires teamwork. Having recently attended a convention in Antigua, I witnessed how exceptional this organization truly is,” Phillip emphasised. He also noted that the general secretary of the organization attended a conference in Guyana, which provided insight into the essence of being part of a true JCL Chapter and the invaluable leadership opportunities available.

Lucien and the reigning 2024 Miss Jaycees Queen and Saint Lucia Carnival Queen is recognized for her leadership and dedication to ensuring smooth communication within the organization.

The tagline of the Saint Lucia Jaycees aptly summarizes their mission: “Empowering Youth, Inspiring Tomorrow.”

Highlighting the organization’s networking component, Phillip stated, “Networking is one of the biggest benefits of this formation. You are never alone—there’s always a Jaycee available to support you.” He called for increased community outreach, encouraging members to remain motivated and invest the effort necessary for success.

“By the end of this year, we will assemble a significant group to attend the National Convention in St. Vincent where we will officially re-affiliate with the Jaycees,” noted Phillip.

JCI Saint Lucia is strengthened by its Vision & Mission, which include the JCI Mission: To provide leadership development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change, and the JCI Vision: To be the foremost global network of young leaders.

Other key members of JCI Saint Lucia include Deputy Chairman Ténaise Hippolyte, recognized as a dynamic leader focused on collaboration and growth. Her strategic vision will be critical in supporting the Chair and driving JCI Saint Lucia’s success this year.

Additional members include Treasurer Kevan Daniel, Executive Assistant/Public Relations Marcus Giraudy-Ghirawoo, and Executive Assistant/Administration Alicia St Brice.
