THE eighth edition of ‘Legacy Calypso’ returns next week with groovy sensation Rupee and soca star Alison Hinds as the headliners for the event.

Organisers are promising an action-packed show from start to finish and “vibes nonstop!” In fact, it will be the “the biggest one ever”, according to a promotional video.

The event (part of the celebrations for ‘Independence 46’) will be held at the Pavilion in Rodney Bay on Saturday, February 8.

Rupee (who produced songs like ‘Tempted to Touch’, ‘Enjoy Yourself in the Mas’ and ‘If I Can’t Have You’) is expected to light up the stage with his fiery tunes.

Soca diva Alison Hinds is also expected to ignite the stage with her chart-topping hits.

Like her counterpart, Hinds is well-known across the region, producing songs like ‘Faluma’ or ‘Makelele’, ‘Roll’, ‘Togetherness’, ‘Can’t Let My Love Go’ and several others.

The Legacy concert will also feature local artistes.

Three-time Power Monarch and two-time Groovy Monarch Alpha will take the stage, and calypso master Invader will also perform at the event.

Reigning Groovy Monarch Sly (whose song ‘Damn Proud Lucian’ was selected for ‘Independence 46’) will also perform at the show.

Local calypsonians Ashanti (who was recently recognised by the Cultural Development Foundation for his contribution to music in Saint Lucia) and Robbi are also featured on the line-up.

Last year’s event featured stars like Beckett and Mighty Gabby.
