Firearms, Jewellery, 6000 Pellets Recovered in Police Operation

Joint Police Operation – Firearms Recovered

One man was arrested recently after police recovered three firearms (one air soft rifle and two BB guns), eighty 80 canisters and six thousand pellets during a police operation.

According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), on Wednesday February 1, officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department, Special Services Unit, Gros Islet Special Patrol Team, Bicycle Patrol Unit and Traffic Enforcement Team were conducting a joint police operation in the communities of Fond Le Grande and Babonneau about 3:00 a.m.

“During the operation, a Warrant to Search for Property was executed on the premises of Dilan Biscette at Cacao, Babonneau… he was arrested and formally charged for unlawful Possession of Firearm and Ammunition,” the RSLPF said via a statement.

Biscette was escorted before the First District Court where he was granted bail in the sum of $5,000.00 cash or suitable surety.

Two 20-year-old males of Fond Le Grande were also arrested recently after a search was conducted at a residence. Police recovered various stolen items (jewellery) in relation to an armed robbery which occurred on January 27, 2023 in Castries. The men are currently in police custody waiting to be charged.

“A third male was arrested for possession of a Controlled Drug and Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply during the execution of a Warrant to Search for property at a residence in Fond Le Grande, following the discovery of a quantity of controlled drugs,” the RSLPF noted.

UPDATE: Firearm and Ammunition Recovered

Officers attached to the Central Police Station arrested a male on High Street, Castries On Monday, January 30, for unlawful Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.

“Whilst on patrol the officers observed a suspicious male and approached him. A search was conducted of his person and a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing seventeen rounds of 9mm ammunition was recovered. He was arrested and escorted to the Criminal Investigations Department for further action,” the RSLPF revealed.

According to the Force, a Warrant to Search for Property was executed at his residence in Goodlands, Castries, where a magazine and one round of 9mm ammunition was recovered.

An update will be provided once charges are preferred.

UPDATE

Brendon Imran Gittens of Entrepot, Castries, was formally charged for unlawful Possession of Firearm and Ammunition. He was escorted before the First District court for bail which was granted in the sum of $35,000.00 cash or suitable surety. Reporting conditions and travel restrictions are also terms of his bail.

Firearm and Ammunition Recovered

Officers attached to the Special Services Unit arrested a male in Monchy, Gros Islet on Thursday February 2, about 5:45 p.m., whilst on mobile patrol, following the recovery of a firearm.

The team of officers were alerted to a suspicious male near a business establishment and proceeded to approach him. He attempted to flee, however was quickly apprehended.

“A search of his person was conducted and a 9mm pistol containing a magazine with five rounds of ammunition was recovered. He was arrested and remains in police custody pending charging,” the RSLPF stated.
