The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) says it stands in full support of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force as it undertakes an investigation into an incident that occurred on Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, shots were fired at the company’s vehicle while three of the organisation’s employees were on duty. The three employees are trained firearm holders for the purpose of their duties.
“Fortunately, the SRDF staff were unharmed during the incident. We commend their swift action to safeguard their lives and get to the police quickly and safely,” read a statement from the SRDF.
“Our priorities at this time are to ensure the physical and psychological health of our employees and to continue to give our full cooperation to the police to ensure that justice can be served,” noted the SRDF.
The Foundation says it is committed to taking all necessary security and safety precautions to safeguard its employees and property.
Further, the police investigation is active, and as such, it is mindful not to compromise the investigation in any way by engaging in speculation.
“We will be further guided by police findings,” noted the SRDF.
