Lucian Carnival is a celebration of Saint Lucia’s culture, artistry and vibrancy, and thanks to Bank of Saint Lucia three lucky winners have even more reason to celebrate.
Alexis Stephen, Carlene St. Edward and Alison Mayers emerged the big winners of BOSL’s Sign Up to Win Carnival Promotion. Well over six hundred attendees of national and signature carnival events qualified for the promotion by simply scanning an activation code and completing a short submission form. At the recently held awards ceremony at the Bank’s Financial Centre on Bridge Street, the winners each received BOSL prize packs and cash awards of EC$1,000.00, EC$500.00 and EC$300.00 respectively.
The Bank recognizes that Lucian Carnival not only represents an opportunity to showcase the island’s creativity and talent on a global scale, but importantly, it is a major economic driver for the country. It is against this backdrop that the Bank lent its full support to this major national celebration, particularly given the two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 and the impact it has had on households and the economy.
This year the Bank partnered with the Carnival Planning & Management Committee, signing on as platinum sponsor of National King and Queen of the Bands & Panorama, and in supporting its first national Carnival Queen contestant, Miss BOSLWISE, Xenia Douglas. Bank of Saint Lucia shared in the pride and excitement associated with the crowning of Miss BOSLWISE as National Carnival Queen 2022. Export the Runway, by Export Saint Lucia and several other signature events including Colour Me Red and U4RIA received support from Bank of Saint Lucia.
Rolf Phillips, Managing Director expressed “Bank of Saint Lucia played a much larger role in Lucian Carnival 2022 because we understand the significance of contributing towards the social and economic development of our island, our people and most importantly, our culture.”
According to other Bank officials, “The support of our creative community, particularly after the events of the last two years, remains a top priority, and this is what compelled us to support King & Queen of the Bands, and Panorama in 2022. The Bank intends to expand its support of our biggest cultural showpiece, Lucian Carnival, for years to come.”
