Saint Lucia has strengthened its presence in the international insolvency community following the participation of three senior representatives at the 2026 International Association of Insolvency Regulators (IAIR) Conference and Annual General Meeting in Montréal, Canada.

The Saint Lucian delegation comprised Mrs. Nathalie Dusauzay, Supervisor of Insolvency, Mrs. Lisa Florent-Montoute, Director of the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC), and Ms. Sharma Mathurin, Deputy Director of the NCPC.

The conference brought together insolvency regulators and practitioners from around the world to exchange knowledge, share experiences and examine emerging developments in insolvency administration and regulation. Discussions focused on approaches to strengthening insolvency systems, improving regulatory frameworks and addressing challenges within an evolving global economic environment.

The NCPC has played an instrumental role in supporting the passage of Saint Lucia’s Insolvency Act and continues to collaborate closely with the Office of the Supervisor of Bankruptcy and Insolvency to advance the implementation of the country’s insolvency framework. The delegation’s participation provided an opportunity to gain valuable technical insights into international best practices and explore approaches that could further strengthen Saint Lucia’s insolvency administration system.

One of the key outcomes of the conference was the establishment of a Caribbean Committee of Insolvency Practitioners, an initiative expected to strengthen regional cooperation and professional development. The committee is expected to meet quarterly, providing a platform for insolvency practitioners across the Caribbean to share knowledge, experiences, tools and resources.

The initiative is intended to foster stronger professional networks, encourage the exchange of practical solutions and identify opportunities for greater collaboration in addressing insolvency-related challenges across the region. It also provides an avenue for Caribbean practitioners to benefit from collective expertise while strengthening their respective national insolvency frameworks.

For Saint Lucia, participation in the IAIR Conference represents an important opportunity to build institutional capacity, strengthen international relationships and remain abreast of evolving global and regional best practices in insolvency regulation and administration.

The NCPC’s continued engagement with the Office of the Supervisor of Bankruptcy and Insolvency underscores its commitment to supporting the effective implementation of Saint Lucia’s insolvency framework, enhancing the business environment and strengthening the institutional mechanisms that support business recovery, financial stability and economic resilience.
