SLFA Primary School Football Revs Up

On Saturday, June 20, the SLFA Inc. Primary Schools District League competition continued at the Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, Dennery, featuring three exciting matches.

The day saw victories for Gros Islet, Desruisseaux, and Marchand.

In the opening match, Gros Islet staged a remarkable comeback, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory against Vieux Fort South.

Vieux Fort South started strong, with Jamiel Griffith scoring twice in the 8th and 27th minutes, leaving Gros Islet trailing at halftime.

However, a rejuvenated Gros Islet team emerged in the second half, with Keemany Ferdinand scoring in the 30th minute to narrow the gap. They equalized shortly after, with Jason Williams finding the net in the 34th minute.

Fueled by momentum, Simon Ferdinand sealed the win for Gros Islet with a decisive goal in the 57th minute.

In the second match, Desruisseaux maintained their dominance with a commanding 4-0 victory over Anse La Raye. Desruisseaux showcased their skill and teamwork, with standout performances from Javany Blanchard, who scored twice in the 11th and 40th minutes, Brydel Khadoo adding to the tally in the 21st minute, and Melvinus Alexander rounding off the score with a goal in the 36th minute.

The final game of the day saw the unbeaten Marchand team edge past Micoud with a narrow 1-0 victory. Nyiem Emmanuel’s goal in the 36th minute was enough to secure the hard-fought win, continuing Marchand’s impressive winning streak.
