NWU & SLTA Negotiate on Working Conditions

.

On Tuesday, June 9, the management of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) and officials from the National Workers Union (NWU) met to negotiate improved terms and conditions for workers while reinforcing their industrial relations mandate.

During this forum, both parties were set to work to establish procedures and protocols that will guide future industrial engagements.

Recently, employees of the SLTA expressed their desire to collectively participate in a unionization process. This led to the issuance of a Recognition Certificate, which designates the NWU as their bargaining representative.

Moving forward, the NWU is expected to develop a set of proposals that will serve as the foundation for negotiations between the parties.
