SPL T20 Season Heats Up!

In Match #23 of this year’s SPL T20 tournament, the Micoud Eagles soared high with a dominant 85-run victory over the South Castries Lions, solidifying their position as serious contenders for the playoffs.

This result leaves the Lions struggling to find a spot in the top four.

The match took place on Wednesday at the Francis “Baba” Lastic Grounds in Gros Islet. Batting first, the Micoud Eagles posted an impressive total of 197/4 in 20 overs, with Mervin Wells leading the charge with a stellar 79 runs off 50 balls. Samuel Charles also contributed with a solid 39 runs off 27 deliveries.

For the Lions, Royce Paul was the standout bowler, recording economical figures of 1/14 in 2 overs, while Kester Charlemagne took 1/24.

In response, the Lions faltered, scoring just 94 runs all out in 13.5 overs. Ephron Charles was the top scorer for the Lions with 29 runs off 19 balls, while Daniel McDonald added 14 runs off 21.

For the Eagles, Hayzel Charles delivered an exceptional bowling performance, taking 7 wickets for just 16 runs in 4 overs, and Kyron Phillip supported with 1 wicket for 10 runs in 1 over.

On Tuesday, in Match #22, the Gros Islet Knights achieved a convincing 6-wicket victory against the Babonneau Leatherbacks, chasing down a target of 144 with ease, finishing at 147/4 in just 15 overs.

West Indies Under-19 all-rounder Tarrique Edward was the star of the match, shining with a blistering half-century of 72 not out, culminating in a towering six to seal the win.
