Law enforcement officers are actively investigating two homicide incidents that occurred over the past weekend.
On Sunday, April 19, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers from the Soufriere Police Station responded to reports of a shooting at Baron’s Drive, Soufriere.
Preliminary investigations reveal that three males sustained gunshot injuries. One of the victims, 40-year-old Karson Simon of Palmiste, Soufriere, succumbed to his injuries. The other two victims, a 16-year-old and a 23-year-old, are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.
Investigations into this incident are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Major Crimes Unit is also investigating a separate homicide that occurred on Sunday at Cul de Sac. At approximately 11:15 a.m., the Criminal Investigations Department received a report of a lifeless body found along the bypass road in Cul de Sac, Castries.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed the presence of a male victim, later identified as 22-year-old Tarrick Isidore of Dennery, who was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The Major Crimes Unit is continuing its investigations. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding either case to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 456-3754. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by calling 555 (the Crime Hotline) or via the RSLPF Crime Hotline App.
Gros Islet Police Divisional Headquarters Officially Opens
Meanwhile, on Monday, April 20, the Gros Islet Police Divisional Headquarters opened its doors to the public, marking a significant advancement in community-focused policing in the north of the island.
A release from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) announced that the facility will officially commence operations at 8:00 a.m. on the same day. Operations from the Rodney Bay and Gros Islet Police Stations will be transitioned to the new headquarters.
As part of this reorganization, the Rodney Bay Police Station will be assigned to the Rangers Unit, which is tasked with protecting local beaches, national parks, and monuments.
Gros Islet Police will maintain a presence at the Rodney Bay Police Station alongside Rangers Unit members to ensure continued service to the public from that location.
