St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) continues the phased relocation of utility poles and related electrical infrastructure along Norbert Road. This follows ongoing discussions on the scope of the poles to be relocated between the company, officials within the Ministry of Infrastructure and the project contractor.
In the first phase, 17 utility poles and accompanying infrastructure including cables and transformers are to be relocated.

To date, electricity lines and infrastructure have been relocated to fourteen high tension (11 kV) poles. The company will remove these poles following the relocation of the telecommunications infrastructure to the newly planted poles. The remaining three new low tension (66 kV) poles have been planted and will be removed when all infrastructure has been transferred.
Relocation works will continue as subsequent phases of the road project which include the final alignment, carriageway width, verge treatment and associated setbacks, are clearly defined and constructed.
LUCELEC underscores the importance of early engagement with utility providers for road projects of this nature, to ensure coordination among all stakeholders. Standard documentation includes road profiles and surveys, landowner details for impacted parcels and civil designs, enabling safe and orderly relocation of electrical infrastructure. The Company acknowledges the inconvenience associated with these activities and sincerely thanks the public, particularly users of Norbert Road, for their continued patience, understanding and cooperation during this phase of the project.
