RSLPF Launches Probe into the Homicide of Omar Joseph

St. Lucia has recorded its first reported homicide for the new year. The Royal St. Lucia Police Force {RSLPF} is actively probing a stabbing incident last weekend which resulted in the death of a teenager.

Police officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department {CID} responded to the incident on Saturday January 3rd at about 12:45am.

Initial reports indicated that one male was wounded during a stabbing at Darling Road, Castries. He was transported to the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU) via personal transportation and was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

The deceased has since been identified as sixteen (16) year old Omar Joseph of Marisule, Gros Islet.

The RSLPF says they are determined to solve this case and is soliciting the assistance of anyone with information regarding this incident.

The Criminal Investigations Department {CID} which can be reached at 456-3770, has also advised that individuals wishing to assist can call the 555 Crime Hotline or by utilizing the RSLPF Crime Hotline Application, which is available in Google Play Store.

St. Lucia recorded 70 homicides in 2025, just under 6 homicides per month.
