The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) will showcase over 40 Saint Lucian authors at its 2026 Writers in the Spotlight on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at its Morne campus.
The event, led by the Hunter J. François Library, will bring together writers from across genres, including poetry, fiction, children’s literature, Christian literature, and Saint Lucian scholarship and research. Participating authors include representatives from both emerging and established voices whose works contribute to national identity, cultural memory, education, and creative expression.
The festival is expected to offer the public an opportunity to meet Saint Lucian authors in person, engage in meaningful conversations about their work, and purchase signed copies of books. Beyond the literary experience, patrons can enjoy a vibrant campus atmosphere with interactive activities, family-friendly games, and opportunities to connect with the wider community.
“The festival aims to honour Saint Lucia’s literary legacy while actively supporting writers by increasing visibility, encouraging readership, and creating spaces for dialogue between authors and the public,” said Kathy Birch Mc Diarmed, SALCC head librarian.

This occasion is believed to be especially significant as the College celebrates the recent announcement by UNESCO recognizing the Derek Walcott Library, which has been inscribed on the Memory of the World Register.
