NC State men’s soccer junior forward Donavan Phillip has been awarded the 2025 MAC Hermann Trophy on Friday evening at the MAC’s annual banquet. The award goes to the top male and female soccer players at the collegiate level each year.

The MAC Hermann Trophy, the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer, has been awarded annually since 1967. The 10-pound crystal soccer ball, is awarded to the United Soccer Coaches National Players of the Year in NCAA DI men’s and women’s soccer based on voting conducted by member coaches.
Phillip’s historic season as the nation’s leading goal scorer continues to earn him honors and awards. He becomes the first-ever member of the Pack to claim the most prestigious collegiate soccer award.
Helping lead NC State to a 16-3-4 record and its first-ever appearance in the national championship, the Saint Lucia native closed out his second campaign for the Pack with 19 goals and two assists. He is the first NC State men’s player to score that many goals in a season since 1984, while also posting the most points (40) in a season since 1991. Phillip was named a USC first-team All-American as well as the ACC Offensive Player of the Year.

2024 – SOPHOMORE
• Played in 19 of 20 games with 14 starts…Averaged 62 minutes of action in each of those appearances
• Tallied six goals…including two goals in the win over No. 10 SMU
• Recorded four assists…Had a crucial flick on header that led to the game winning golden goal against Charlotte
• In the four postseason matches alone, he picked up two goals and two assists, playing a crucial part in leading his team to victories. Most notably, he both scored and assisted the two goals in the double overtime match against Charlotte at home in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
• Finished the season tied for second on his team in goals scored (six) and shots taken (45)
• Selected as the 62nd overall pick (Rd 3, Pick 2) in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft by Colorado Rapids
• Named to the 2024-25 ACC Academic Honor Roll
2023 (FRESHMAN AT OAKLAND):Â
• Started all 19 games … totaling 1,383 minutes with an average of 73 minutes per game.
• Recorded five goals and seven assists for a total of 17 points
• Tallied 26 shots with 12 on goal
• Netted the game winning goal for three games
PERSONAL
• Grew up in Saint Lucia…attended boarding school in Pennsylvania (Kiski Prep) and won two national titles while there
• Entire family grew up playing soccer – Dad played professionally in Jamaica, Uncle also played professionally and now plays on a Senior National Team, Mom represented Saint Lucia in cricket, rugby, and soccer
