This weekend, the boxing challenge will come alive at a newly established venue as Saint Lucia hosts the 2025 Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Invitational Boxing Championships at The Pavilion in Rodney Bay.

From August 1 to 3, the holiday weekend will be filled with dynamic bouts featuring some of the sub-region’s finest pugilists. This event marks a milestone as it takes place in Saint Lucia’s prime tourism hub, thanks to a collaboration between the Saint Lucia Boxing Association and the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.

The change in venue aims to create a more controlled environment and inject new energy into the event, tapping into the island’s burgeoning sports tourism potential.

More than 100 boxers from across the region and North America are expected to compete. The Pavilion, renowned for hosting elite cultural and entertainment events, will serve as the backdrop for one of the region’s premier boxing showdowns.

SLBA President David “Shakes” Christopher has been a relentless advocate for the sport and is excited about attracting numerous young athletes to the ring.

“All elite boxers will be in the tourist area, the Pavilion, thanks to the support of the Tourism Authority,” he stated at the official press launch.

“This year, we are injecting more tourist flavor into boxing. Now, boxing is taking center stage at the Pavilion,” Christopher asserted.

Team Saint Lucia, the reigning champions, is determined to defend its title with vigor.

With an ambitious vision, Christopher believes that Team Saint Lucia is poised for exposure beyond the region and into the international boxing scene.

He urged the SLTA to engage hoteliers to rally further support for the sport and encourage visitors to experience the tournament at the Pavilion, emphasizing, “We want them to come to the Pavilion and enjoy some exceptional boxing.”

Each night of the championship is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults and $12 for children under 12.
