
Defending champions La Clery are solidly positioned among the frontrunners in this season’s Saint Lucia Semi-Professional Football League [SPFL] competition.
After two weeks of intense action in the island’s major football league, La Clery and Central Castries both boast two victories, while Mabouya Valley has effectively navigated a tough challenge from Dennery to maintain their top position on goal difference. Gros Islet faced a setback, managing only a draw.
The games have been electrifying at the Mindoo Phillip Park [MPP], showcasing riveting performances from all competing teams.
Tier I
La Clery vs. Choiseul 2-2
On Sunday, La Clery decisively took on Choiseul, dominating from the outset as Shaquille Degazon and Yanic Noel netted within the first three minutes of play. Roeham Cooper sealed a commanding win with a goal in the 80th minute, marking La Clery’s second consecutive triumph.
 Gros Islet vs. Canaries 2-2
Gros Islet took an early lead against Canaries, with Jardel Joseph scoring in the 34th minute. However, Curdin Jones equalized in the 67th minute, and McArthur Louis put Canaries ahead in the 71st minute. After Canaries were reduced to ten men following a red card in the 88th minute, Sherman Augustin salvaged a point for Gros Islet with a late equalizer.
This draw marked the second time this season that Canaries have settled for a point. Currently, Gros Islet sits fourth in the standings with one win and one draw.

Soufriere vs South Castries 2-1
Soufrière achieved their first win of the campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over South Castries.

Tier 1
Central Castries vs. Vieux Fort South 2-0
Central Castries dispatched newly-promoted Vieux Fort South with a convincing 2-0 victory, continuing their unbeaten run with the same scoreline for the second consecutive week after overcoming a stubborn Soufrière squad. Jamal Wilfred and Marcalan John both found the back of the net within the first 25 minutes, securing the win over the Tier 2 champions.

Tier 2
Mabouya Valley vs. Dennery 3-2
In a fierce East-Coast derby, Mabouya Valley demonstrated resilience, coming from behind to secure a tough victory against Dennery. National midfielder Brandon Sandiford was the standout player, scoring three times.
His first came in the 23rd minute of a contentious match, followed by Shaquelle William equalizing for Dennery just before halftime.
Despite Dennery taking the lead through Shervius Oculi shortly after a strategic double substitution for Mabouya Valley, Sandiford quickly equalized once more and clinched all three points with a decisive goal seven minutes before the final whistle.
National Under-20 vs. V Fort North 3-1
Due to the ongoing Lucian Carnival festivities, the SPFL will pause for three weeks, resuming on July 26 at the Gros Islet Mini Stadium with a crucial clash between Central Castries and Mabouya Valley. (RA)
