Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning actor and global entrepreneur Dr. Malik Yoba is presently in St. Lucia to headline the Connect Saint Lucia Business Social.

Last evening, Dr. Yoba spoke at the Sandals Grande Saint Lucian Spa & Beach Resort.

This gathering, far more than just a networking opportunity, served as a strategic forum designed to unite returning nationals, local entrepreneurs, public officials, and innovators. The aim was to stimulate meaningful discussion about inclusive economic growth, elevating Saint Lucia’s cultural identity as well as expanding avenues for sustainable development.

Recognized for his iconic roles in Cool Runnings, Empire, Law & Order in addition to numerous upcoming Netflix and BET projects, Malik Yoba has used his platform far beyond the entertainment. Though a board member of the U.S. EXIM Bank for Sub-Saharan Africa, he is also versatile cultural ambassador and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden in addition to leading Yoba Development and Yoba Global Solutions, companies specializing in real estate, media, education, and federal contracting.

The Business Social’s program featured Yoba’s keynote address alongside interactive workshops and panel discussions tailored to address the island’s most pressing challenges and promising opportunities. Yoba’s presence notably amplified the event’s reach, bringing global attention to Saint Lucia through his significant social media following—approaching 400,000 on Instagram and tens of thousands more on other platforms—and connections with major media outlets such as CNN, BET, and Essence.

Beyond his role as keynote speaker, Yoba’s engagement included direct interaction with Saint Lucian youth, artists, and entrepreneurs. His experience posies him to offer tangible strategies to empower the island’s next generation—a priority that aligns closely with Saint Lucia’s national vision for youth development and economic diversification.

Dr. Malik Yoba’s visit marked a significant moment for Saint Lucia—one that reflected the power of cultural diplomacy, the importance of intergenerational exchange and the island’s readiness to engage meaningfully on the world stage. Connect Saint Lucia’s orchestration of this world class event is commendable and underscores the need for increased transformative dialogue and forward-thinking partnerships.
