Saint Lucia has received funding of US$201,626 from the Special Programme Trust Fund to enhance its capacity for eliminating hazardous waste.

The recently conducted National Inception Workshop has initiated the project titled “Building the Foundation for Sound Chemicals and Waste Management in Saint Lucia.”

This initiative is part of a program funded by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) aimed at strengthening national chemical and waste policies.

With the support of the Special Programme Trust Fund, the Government of Saint Lucia is working to enhance national capabilities for the effective management of chemicals and hazardous waste.

This project also aims to ensure compliance with critical international agreements, including the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions, as well as the Minamata Convention and the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM).
