
Law enforcement officials have successfully apprehended an overseas national who falsely claimed to be a medical doctor while residing in Saint Lucia.
This week, police confirmed that the individual has been charged with Practicing Medicine without a valid Medical Certificate.
On May 31, the Major Crimes Unit acted on a report from Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sharon Belmar George regarding this illegal practice.
On June 1, the Major Crimes Unit, in collaboration with the Immigration Department, arrested Dr. Subhashdas Sathiyadas at the George FL Charles Airport as he attempted to leave Saint Lucia.
Subsequently, on June 3, Dr. Sathiyadas was formally charged with Practicing Medicine without a Valid License.
He has been brought before the First District Court for bail proceedings, where he was granted bail set at $20,000.00 along with additional court conditions.
